Calcium-Carbid-Method

The calcium-carbide method is a destroying inspection procedure that is easy to utilize and which gives qualitative results directly on site.
Approach:
The sample is grinded with a mortar to flour and is dosed with carbide in a pressure tank. The substances interact together inside the pressure tank. A gas emerges as a reaction product. The pressure of the gas inside the tank can be read off on a screwed manometer. By the known dosage of probe flour and carbide a conclusion is possible on the level of moisture.

Salt examination

Harmful salts occur mainly on earth touching components. Salts are stored in the structure through the capillary suction capability of mineral building materials through moisture seizure. Therefore a salt analysis has always got to be connected with a moisture analysis.
There should only be mentioned the wet chemical laboratory procedure which allows a determination of the distribution of the salt in the component through a chemical analysis of drill cores. The knowledge of this salt profile is inevitable for a redevelopment.
